A Possible Fight in Turkey for Berto?

There have been some negotiations between Berto's promoter, Lou DiBella and Turkish fighter Selcuk Aydin for a possible title fight in Turkey. Berto's team also would like the opportunity to fight Shane Mosley but they haven't made any final decisions yet. I guess the team wants to take the fight with the most money so they will make their next decisions accordingly.

Andre Berto gives back to Boys and Girls Club

Just this past week, Andre Berto stoped by the Winter Haven Boys and Girls Club and donated $10,000 while showing off his title belt. The kids were excited to see Berto as he walked in the center and let all the kids gather around and see his championship belt. Berto also did a good deed and dontated $10,000 to the center in which he once was a part off when he was a kid. Berto is a good person and he always gives back to the community. That's what really makes Berto a champ.

Andre Berto retains WBC title over Juan Urango

May 30th was another nice win for Andre Berto as defeats Juan Urango. It may have not been one of the most exciting bouts for Berto but he showed great speed and experience as he beat Urango in all twelve rounds. Many may disagree that Berto is not ready for the elite welterweight fighters but he showed critics in this fight that he can go all twelve rounds and still fight all of them like it's the first. His hand speed and power is improving very well since the last couple of fights and it showed in his fight as Juan Urango as Berto hit him with fast, accurate jabs and straight right hands. All in all, Berto put on a good performance and I look forward to seeing his next fight. There have been some negotiations about a possibe match between Shane Mosley and Berto but no final decisions have been made yet. When more info becomes available i will post it.

Andre Berto Scheduled to Fight Luis Callazo

On January 17 Andre Berto is scheduled to fight Luis Callazo. Callazo has a record of 29(14) with 3 losses. He has fought notable names like Ricky Hatton and Shane Mosley in which ended in losses by decision. Collazo is of Puerto Rican descent who won the WBA Welterweight title on April 2, 2005 against Jose Rivera.

On September 28, 2008 on the Mosley vs Mayorga undercard, Callazo stopped Russell Jordan in the final round of their bout.

Andre Berto retains welterweight title against Steve Forbes

On the night of September 27 Berto stepped into the ring very confident and anxious against Forbes. Berto's speed and pressure lead him to a 12 round unanimous decision. But that was not an easy fight for Berto. I was suprised by Forbes' hand speed and great defense that keep him in the fight with Berto. Steve Forbes has never been knocked out and when I watched the fight I saw why. Forbes has great defense and a great chin. Berto landed many hard punches including some devastating uppercuts but Forbes held his ground.

I think this was a great fight for Berto since Forbes is a former champion and has a lot of experience. Many critics say that Berto is not ready for the top welterweights but this match showed that Berto definitly has what it takes to be the next welterweight champ with his amazing hand speed and great punching power.

Andre Berto Stops Michel Trabant

After six rounds of pressure and hard punching from Andre Berto, Michel Trabant called it quits at the end of the sixth round. I was very amazed at how well Berto performed that night by his accurate punching and his great jab. Berto did most of the work by coming straight forward and applying pressure on Trabant. Trabant didn't throw many punches in the fight so Berto couldn't counter that much.

Berto landed many hard shots included some devasting uppercuts that nearly did it for Trabant. Despite the lose for Trabant it was a good fight and I am looking forward to see how well Andre Berto matches up with the top welterweights.

Andre Berto vs Michael Trabant

Andre Berto is scheduled to take on German Michael Trabant on Feburary 9 which will be televised on HBO's boxing after dark. The bout will be at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California.

Michael Trabant, a 29 year old boxing veteran has 47 professional bouts and only 2 defeats. He is the former European Welterweight Champion and this will be his first fight in America.

Hopefully this will be a great fight and Berto will show the world why he is the future of the welterweight division.
