After constant pressure and accurate power punching by Berto, Quintana was finally stopped in the 8th round. I was very excited to see Berto fight and he put on a great performance once again. I admit that he was a little bit rusty but he still came through with an impressive knock out. He hard work and training really paid off as he look liked he was well in shape and conditioned.

I look forward to his next fight and what the rest of the year will bring as potential elite opponents. Maybe Mayweather or Mosley? We will see.

Andre Berto teams up with University of Miami's Project Medishare

Since the earthquake in Haiti, Berto has teamed up with the University of Miami's Project Medishare which is a nonprofit organization committed to rebuild the medical infrastructure in Haiti. Berto's fight scheduled in April against Carlos Quintana will be titled "Fighting for Haiti". This will be a very important fight for Berto as he has been throught a lot since his last fight and a win against Quintana could set him up for another big fight later this year or the beginning of next year. I really look forward to see Berto in action next month and his fight for Haiti.

Andre Berto vs Carlos Quintana April 10th

Andre Berto is scheduled a bout with Carlos Quintana in April for the WBC welterweight title. The match will take place at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. Berto was scheduled to fight Shane Mosley in January but do the disaster relief in Haiti he had to withdraw. Eight of his family members were killed in the earthquake but he did find some of his family members that were okay. I am really excited to see Berto back in action and I know he will put on a great show. He has been training extremely hard and I know the results will show in the ring. Berto is working his way up to the top and soon he will be one of welterweight's elite fighters. I wish Berto the best of luck on his bout and hopes he gives us another impressive fight on April 10th.

Andre Berto Visits Haiti

The tragedy in Haiti really devastated many people and it is an event that will never be forgotten. Despite his future bout with Shane Mosley in last January, Andre Berto made a trip to Haiti to help out with the efforts. He really love his country and would do anything to help out. He also has some family members in Haiti and he found out that they were okay. I am glad that Berto got in touch with his family and that they are doing okay. I definitely wanted to see the fight between him and Shane Mosley but Berto had to prospone the fight so he could go check on his family and help his nation. I am really proud of Berto and everything he has done and achieved. He has a really great heart and helps out in any way that he can. I wish Berto all the best of luck.

A Possible Fight in Turkey for Berto?

There have been some negotiations between Berto's promoter, Lou DiBella and Turkish fighter Selcuk Aydin for a possible title fight in Turkey. Berto's team also would like the opportunity to fight Shane Mosley but they haven't made any final decisions yet. I guess the team wants to take the fight with the most money so they will make their next decisions accordingly.

Andre Berto gives back to Boys and Girls Club

Just this past week, Andre Berto stoped by the Winter Haven Boys and Girls Club and donated $10,000 while showing off his title belt. The kids were excited to see Berto as he walked in the center and let all the kids gather around and see his championship belt. Berto also did a good deed and dontated $10,000 to the center in which he once was a part off when he was a kid. Berto is a good person and he always gives back to the community. That's what really makes Berto a champ.

Andre Berto retains WBC title over Juan Urango

May 30th was another nice win for Andre Berto as defeats Juan Urango. It may have not been one of the most exciting bouts for Berto but he showed great speed and experience as he beat Urango in all twelve rounds. Many may disagree that Berto is not ready for the elite welterweight fighters but he showed critics in this fight that he can go all twelve rounds and still fight all of them like it's the first. His hand speed and power is improving very well since the last couple of fights and it showed in his fight as Juan Urango as Berto hit him with fast, accurate jabs and straight right hands. All in all, Berto put on a good performance and I look forward to seeing his next fight. There have been some negotiations about a possibe match between Shane Mosley and Berto but no final decisions have been made yet. When more info becomes available i will post it.

On January 17 Andre Berto is scheduled to fight Luis Callazo. Callazo has a record of 29(14) with 3 losses. He has fought notable names like Ricky Hatton and Shane Mosley in which ended in losses by decision. Collazo is of Puerto Rican descent who won the WBA Welterweight title on April 2, 2005 against Jose Rivera.

On September 28, 2008 on the Mosley vs Mayorga undercard, Callazo stopped Russell Jordan in the final round of their bout.

Andre Berto retains welterweight title against Steve Forbes

On the night of September 27 Berto stepped into the ring very confident and anxious against Forbes. Berto's speed and pressure lead him to a 12 round unanimous decision. But that was not an easy fight for Berto. I was suprised by Forbes' hand speed and great defense that keep him in the fight with Berto. Steve Forbes has never been knocked out and when I watched the fight I saw why. Forbes has great defense and a great chin. Berto landed many hard punches including some devastating uppercuts but Forbes held his ground.

I think this was a great fight for Berto since Forbes is a former champion and has a lot of experience. Many critics say that Berto is not ready for the top welterweights but this match showed that Berto definitly has what it takes to be the next welterweight champ with his amazing hand speed and great punching power.

Andre Berto Stops Michel Trabant

After six rounds of pressure and hard punching from Andre Berto, Michel Trabant called it quits at the end of the sixth round. I was very amazed at how well Berto performed that night by his accurate punching and his great jab. Berto did most of the work by coming straight forward and applying pressure on Trabant. Trabant didn't throw many punches in the fight so Berto couldn't counter that much.

Berto landed many hard shots included some devasting uppercuts that nearly did it for Trabant. Despite the lose for Trabant it was a good fight and I am looking forward to see how well Andre Berto matches up with the top welterweights.

Andre Berto is scheduled to take on German Michael Trabant on Feburary 9 which will be televised on HBO's boxing after dark. The bout will be at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California.

Michael Trabant, a 29 year old boxing veteran has 47 professional bouts and only 2 defeats. He is the former European Welterweight Champion and this will be his first fight in America.

Hopefully this will be a great fight and Berto will show the world why he is the future of the welterweight division.

After 10 rounds of hard punches and great combos from Andre Berto, he finally takes David Estrada down for the NABF Welterwieght Title.

The bout started out with Estrada steadily moving forward and pressuring Berto but as Andre started to utilize the jab and connect with devastating power punches it slowed Estrada down. I have to say that Estrada is a very tought oppenent because he took a lot of punches from Berto. All in all it was a great fight.

Berto Pays Tribute To Jackie Leonard

Long time boxing promotor and trainer Jackie Leonard dies at 89. Jack taught me and the rest of us at PAL boxing gym in Winter Haven a lot. He taught me how to throw a fast jab in which was the fastest in the gym and how to hit the speed bag. Berto will pay tribute to Jack by wearing a "JL" on his uniform. I am very sad to hear that Jack has passed and he should go down in the hall of fame. He has promoted fighters like Archie Moore and Sugar Ray Leonard.

May Jackie Leonard rest in peace.

Andre Berto in Training Camp?

I heard Berto is going to a training camp to prepare for his next fight. I hope he trains well because he really needs this win so he can advance and maybe go for a title shot. I know he will make it to the top so I don't have much worries. He fight weekened will be great because Jermain Taylor is fighting the same night. Andre Berto is a long boxing partner of mine. He was born in Miami Florida and resides in Winter Haven, Florida where he trains with Tony Morgan. He is an American born Haitian boxer who fought for Haiti in the 2004 Olympics after being disqualified for America. He has been boxing since he was a teen and has had over 200 amatuer bouts.

Berto is a very excellent fighter. He has great power and very fast hands. He also has very nice footwork and a quick, stiff jab to keep his opponents unbalanced. His current record is 19-0 with 16 knockouts. He is in the welterweight division at 147 pounds. His last fight was against Cosme Rivera which ended in a unanimous division after Andre Berto dominated his opponent. Berto did get caught with an unexpected chin-checker but he regained his focus and continued to win every round.

I think Berto has what it takes to make it to the top and become the next champion. He trains hard everyday and has the heart of a real fighter. He never skips a day in the gym. As soon as he is finished with another fight, he is back in the gym the next day training intensely. Berto is definitely a boxer to watch and he can really put on a show. He fights very good fights and he is a real smart fighter. His next fight will be on September 29th against David Estrada. This is set to be a good match and this will hopefully be a big step us for Berto. I believe Berto has what it takes to win this fight and continue on to go for a title fight. There is no doubt in my mind that Andre Berto will be the next welterweight champion. He just has to take his time and stay focused.

Andre Berto's Last Fight of 2007

Andre Berto is scheduled to fight David Estrada this year in September which will mostly likely be Berto's last fight of the year. This will be a great fight for him if he wins because he may get a chance at a title if he beats Estrada. Berto is going to a training camp to prepare for this extraordinary fight and I hope he does well.

I truely believe in Berto and I know he will perform well in his next bout. His training in the camp should get him well ready and confident for his last fight of the year.

Berto Back In The Gym

After his fight with Cosme Rivera Berto is back in the gym and getting prepared for his next fight with David Estrada. He says this time he will be more focused and be more careful. I believe Berto has what it takes to get this victory and he will do very well in his future bouts. Andre Berto is set to face David Estrada on September 29th 2007. Estrada will be a good match for Berto. Estrada is a boxer that keeps on coming and doesnt back up all the time. I think this is be one of the best fights Berto ever has had and it show if he really has the potential to be the best. Despite what happened in Berto's last fight when he got chin-checked, I think he would learn from that and always stay focused. I think Berto will do good in this fight and continue to climb up in the rankings.

Andre Berto has been my boxing friend for many years. He is an excellent boxer and he has to heart of a real champion. He style is extraordinary and he has a great combination of power and speed. He is one the the rising prospects in the welterweight divsion and will hopefully be the next champion pretty soon.

Andre Mike Berto (born September 7, 1983 in Miami, Florida) is an American-born Haïtian boxer, who competed on behalf of Haïti in the 2004 Summer Olympics. His brother, Edson Berto, is a professional mixed martial artist. Andre Berto is often called "Mike", his middle name.

Berto has had over 200 amaetur fights and his current pro record is 19-0 with 16 knockouts.
He definetly has a chance to make to the top and become the next welterweight champion.
